Here's a list of questions we get asked a LOT! :)
How is/are my pet(s) doing?
The majority of the time the answer to this is GREAT! or AWESOME! and it's the truth! If there were anything urgently wrong with your pet while they're here we would contact you, your emergency contact, and/or your veterinarian immediately for further advice. If none of your contacts are available or your vet is closed, we will take your pet to The Village Vet of Lewiston at your expense.
I just got my pet home and he/she is acting very tired. Is something wrong with him/her?
Not likely. This is probably because he/she had such a good time here and they just need to rest for a few days. In the unlikely event that your pet is still not acting normal after a few days have passed - contact your veterinarian.
I just got my dog home and he/she seems to have lost his/her barker. What happened?
Well... he/she probably just barked so much at the other dogs around and just went hoarse. It should come back with a day or two of rest. That's good news right?
Does someone live close by in case something happens?
Yes. Someone lives right next door on the property and have watch over the kennel 24/7. We have a special heat/cold monitor and smoke/fire detector in the kennel that calls us and the Fire Department if anything were to happen.
What can I bring for my pet while he/she stays with you?
You are welcome to bring anything you like (as long as is machine washable and/or is not a favorite toy/bed), including but not limited to: food, blankets, toys, treats, medication, etc. We do not recommend bringing food or water bowls.
How often do the dogs get to go outside?
The dogs get "cycled" every 2 hours. This is when we let them each out one at a time until they come back in which is usually about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes they get lost and have to be coaxed back into the right run.
Do the dogs interact with other dogs?
We don't want any accidental fights or pregnancies so we do not let the dogs interact at this time. We can make exceptions for dogs that are in the same family or dogs that know one another outside of the kennel and get along well. In the future we would like to be able to let the dogs play together (we are working on it).
What happens when you're closed for the day or closed for holidays?
After 5pm we go home for the day but we come back for "Last Cycle" later in the evening to let the dogs go potty one last time before bed. We give them all a goodnight cookie and hug and then it's lights out until 7:30am when we come back the next day. We treat holidays like any other day except we are not open for drop-offs or pick-ups. You might wonder why you aren't allowed to pick up your dog even though we are clearly able to give them to you. Well that's because sometimes we need a day to relax too. Don't worry, your pets are still being taken care of when we are closed.
What vaccinations does my DOG need to board with you?
We require the following vaccinations for dogs: Rabies, DHPP (distemper/parvo), and Bordetella (kennel cough). We happily accept Titer results or even a letter from your Vet stating that Vaccinations are contraindicated for your pet. It's for the health of your pet as well as the health of the other pets boarding with us.
What vaccinations does my CAT need to board with you?
We require the following vaccinations for cats: Rabies and DHPP (distemper). We happily accept Titer results or even a letter from you Vet stating that Vaccinations are contraindicated for your pet. It's for the health of your pet as well as the health of the other pets boarding with us.
What vaccinations does my pet need to be groomed by you?
Requirements are: Rabies
How often does my pet get fed and watered?
We usually feed 2 times a day, mornings and evenings before closing. But we can accommodate your regular feeding schedule. Your pet gets fresh water in the mornings and water bowls filled up throughout the day. If your pet gets only dry kibble and they don't eat their morning meal, we will leave it for them to eat overnight. If your pet gets wet food, we replace it for each meal.
Can you give my pet it's medication?
Yes, and there's no extra charge.
Can my pet be groomed while it's boarding with you?
Yes they can (if there is an open appointment), and you even get a $5 discount!
When/How do I pay?
You pay when you pick up your pet up. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit/debit cards including: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
What if I don't have a copy of my pet's vaccines , but I know they are current?
You can call your vet and have them fax or email their records to us. Our fax number is 716-625-1223 email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
How often are the runs cleaned and with what?
We clean every dog's run every morning with Top Performance 256 Cleaner which is a Disinfectant, Detergent, and Deodorant. This stuff is great! It kills Canine Coronavirus, Canine Distemper virus, Feline Picornavirus, Infections Bovine Rhinotracheitis virus, Pseudorabies virus, Transmissible Gastroenteritis virus, Canine Parvovirus, Mice Parvovirus, Porcine Parvovirus, and Rabies. It also kills bugs and spiders on contact.
If I choose not to bring my pet's own food, what will they eat?
We serve only high quality grain free kibble sourced from the Emporium, so you know its good:)
